世界上所有宗教和文化普遍遵守的一條準(zhǔn)則就是尊敬老人。在我看來，老年人為我們的社會做出了貢獻(xiàn)，提供給我們智慧和指導(dǎo)，得到尊敬理所應(yīng)當(dāng)，受之無愧。
我們從自己的父母親和祖父母那兒繼承了這個世界。如果不是過去幾代人，包括我們當(dāng)中的老年人的辛勤工作，我們今天所享有的現(xiàn)代社會是完全不可能存在的。老年人努力工作，供養(yǎng)家人、社會以及年輕的后代。他們中有些人曾為我們今天慶祝的自由而戰(zhàn);有些人曾為給后代創(chuàng)造更好的生活和工作環(huán)境而奮斗。作為享受他們勞動成果的后來人，我們理所當(dāng)然應(yīng)該尊重他們。
