this graph tells us the changes in the life epectancy and infant mortality in developing countries between 1960 and 1990. we can see that the life epectancy in 1960 was about 40 years whereas in 1990, it increased to about 60 years. in the meantime, the infant mortality rate dropped from 20off00 to 10off00.
there are many reasons for these changes. first, thanks to the advances in science and medicine, people are receiving better health care services than they used to. secondly, with the development of economy, people are better off today.
so they can attach much importance to their diet. thirdly, owing to the increasing awareness of environment protection, measures are taken to solve the problem of pollution. all these are beneficial to peoples health which certainly prolonged their life epectancy.

I wish you as strong and energetic as a bamboo. On the other hand, it’s hard outside but hollow inside. If compared to a bamboo, one is usually considered to be strong-willed and modest. One day,a fox ran into a tiger,which was hunting in the forest.Facing thetiger’s big hungry mouth,the fox pretended to be surprised,and said,“How dareyou eat me?I’m much fiercer than you though you have the name of ‘King of thebeasts’!” “What are you talking about?” said the tiger who couldn’t believe hisears.“If you don’t believe me,let’s go and see other beasts’ reactions at thesight of us.” Full of misgivings,the tiger decided to follow the fox and seewhat he was up to.
A strange sight was taken place in the forest:the fox was proudly marchingin front and the ferocious tiger followed in a huff.Watching them,all the littlebeasts fled in a hurry.After a while,the fox stopped and asked the tiger,“Now doyou believe me?” The tiger,who was fooled by this trick,believed that the littlebeasts feared the fox instead of himself,therefore he let him go.
The tiger lost a delicious meal,while the Chinese gained an interestingidiom.
