　　The People's Republic of China is a socialism country with its own characteristics. It is one of the developing countries.

To the south are Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and the Philippine. To the west and southwest are India, Burma, Bhutan, Nepal and Pakistan. To the east is Japan, which faces China across the East China Sea.

　　這是一個困擾大家很久的問題。從小學開始學習英文直到初中畢業，我們掌握了一定量的單詞和句型，但是在運用這些單詞和句型的時候，我們往往會先在腦海中構造一個中文的句式，然后把它翻譯成中文。

　　比如這個句子：

　　他的笑話把我給逗死了。

　　絕大多數同學都這樣寫：His joke made me laugh to death.

　　正如一句從英文翻譯過來的中文會顯露出它原本的英式結構和用詞一樣，這樣一句漢語轉換成的英語也會暴露它深刻的中文血統，甚至因為強求對某個局部進行中文對譯而導致最后寫成的句子貽笑大方。

　　所以在動筆練習寫作之前，我們首先要明白一點：雖然思維轉換成語言是瞬間的事情，但是思維本身不是語言。中國同學的問題在于，我們的思維轉變成中文的速度太快了，快到你自己意識不到這種轉換完成了，所以腦海中永遠都是成型的中文句子，地道的中文句子。于是在寫作的時候，同學們總是面對中文句子，從第一個詞開始動筆翻譯，最后呈現的是一篇生硬的英語譯文，而非英語作文。大家稍微注意一下就會發現：

　　他的笑話把我給逗死了。

　　His joke made me laugh to death.

　　這兩個句子的一一對應關系和生搬硬套的文字處理。

　　思維――中文――英文寫作模式最大的危害在于它不允許同學從整個句子的高度來把握句式結構的組織和詞匯選擇，把同學套牢在和自己的中文斗爭，和一個個中文單詞斗爭的局部戰場上。所以說，在進行英文寫作的時候，切斷思維和中文的連接，讓思維，而不是表述思維的中文留在腦海中，是進行英語寫作的第一步。

　　說白了，就是你腦海中有那個意思，沒那個句子。

　　正因為沒有，才能夠創造，佛經中說的真空妙有也是這個意思，因為茶杯是空的，才能倒進水去，一個被塞滿的茶杯貌似充實，其實是最沒用。

　　現在同學們可以嘗試用英文對整個句子進行表述，這時候，絕大多數的同學會感到有點兒痛苦。因為你的復雜的思維，豐富的感請，美好的想法要用一種陌生的語言表達出來，是很吃力的。這是正常而且真實的情況，因為這是你第一次甩掉中文的拐杖獨立用英語寫作。

　　讓我們一起來試試。還是那個句子：

　　他的笑話把我給逗死了。

　　我們放棄對“逗死”這個詞匯的對譯，感覺一下，其實就是他的笑話很精彩，我很愉快。因為一種娛樂活動而感到快樂，我們就能找到amuse這個詞匯了。還有一個詞是entertain，也接近這個意思，但那是綜合的被娛樂而滿足的意思，沒有哈哈大笑的傳神感覺，所以我們還是用amuse這個詞。

　　Amuse是一個動詞，它的分詞形式是同學們非常熟悉的，一個是amused，一個是amusing.在這里兩個詞都可以用。

　　然后再來看看逗死的死怎么說。按照字面就是die，一個笑話，字字見血，這太可怕了。其實死在這里無非表示一種很深的程度而已。這個意思我們掌握有quite，rather等一系列詞匯。

　　現在難點解決了，讓我們用amused寫這個句子：

　　I was quite amused by the joke he just told.

　　同學們注意到這是一個比His joke made me laugh to death這種人鬼情未了式的句子正常多了的一個表達。為什么我們一開始寫不出來呢？讓我們把它字字對譯到中文：

　　事實上，絕大多數英文的被動表達在中文中都特別奇怪。比如常見的“sb”s son was born“，這是一個被動語態，用中文的被動來表達就是”某人的兒子被生了“，這幾乎會讓同學們忍不住產生”是誰干的“這樣的問題。

　　同學們之所以不太能夠在寫作中自如地使用被動句子，思維――中文――英文的錯誤寫作習慣就是主要的原因之一。

　　糾正這個習慣就要隨時在英語寫作訓練上注意克服對中文的依賴。習慣是由于重復而產生的，也只能通過更多次的重復去消除掉。你練習中文，使用中文已經很長時間了，中文對你來說是一種強勢的語言，思維到中文最輕松，最快捷，最不假思索。而我們就是要把這個不假思索的過程停止，重新去審視，阻斷和剝離掉中文的影響，才能讓寫出的英文句子地道，純凈，優美。
