　　In 20xx, ‘May golden week’ was canceled, but this year people have discussed the problem whether we should renew ‘May golden week’ or not.

　　Some people think the 7-day holiday is very important. Firstly, we could have a good rest and refresh ourselves after several months of hard work. Secondly, we could spend more time staying with our family. Thirdly, we will be able to use the one-week vacation to travel to some farther places such as foreign countries.

　　However, other people hold the opposite view. They think it causes a lot of problems. It may lead to traffic jam and visitors will not enjoy themselves if the travelling spots are over-crowded.

　　As a student, I prefer a 7-day holiday. Not only can I sleep well and do exercise, but also I can read some interesting books. How I wish a 7-Day holiday would come soon and we will have a 7-day holiday then!

He said the USA government had decided to withdraw troops from Iraq .When I heard the news , I didn’t believe it .However ,it was true .When I turned on the TV to watch the further report, what I saw was that the US soldiers eventually returned home ,tired and frightened.

　　What influences their feelings is violence and war. They saw too much blood and too many people killed in the war. What’s worse, they had to kill others sometimes in order to survive themselves. Faced with so much violence, they are filled with fear.

　　In our daily life, there are also many violent cases around us. Not only does it affects our public order, but it also has a bad influence on people, especially the teenagers.

　　As there are large quantities of harms in violence. What can we do to avoid it? I think it’s important for us to be kind to others. Smile can easily spread in the air, so when we smile to others, others will repay us a smile.

　　As for the government, I think every country should do work together. What causes the conflicts between the countries is the lack of communication. Understanding is a bridge that is made up of love and tolerance. As the saying goes,“United , we stand; divided , we fall.”. To make our world a better place to live in, we should learn to take care of others. And what is more important is that we should learn to respect others.

　　When the love of peace spread all over the world, smile will take the place of crying. Violence will no longer be a problem. And I’m sure we’ll have a better future.

I think part of this is because we’ve become too excited about facts and not enough about things we can’t see and measure. Reading books from our own culture helps us understand our roots. Reading books from other cultures helps us understand the way other people think and react to situations. It also teaches us that we’re not so very different from others, and that leads to better relations between cultures.

　　Reading literature also feeds our spirits. Even when the material we’re reading is about terrible sadness and hardship, it still brings us in touch with our inner selves. It makes us think about issues other than new car we want to drive or how much money we’re making.

　　Studying history gives us more information than just who died when or who won which war. It tell us about how human beings have related to each other at different periods in our development. It gives us the big picture. So often, when international crises occur, we only see the problem of the moment. We have no idea how something that happened twenty years ago was the beginning of this current problem. Without that information, we can have only a shallow understanding of ? going on in the world.

　　Both history and literature are necessary subjects for students to prepare for more than just careers. These subjects prepare students for the way they want to live their lives.
