　　近年來，在中國大地刮起了一股“英語熱”：各種英語輔導班名目繁多，數不勝數；走在大街上，隨處可見聽著錄音機，背誦英語單詞的莘莘學子；各種英語教輔書更是琳瑯滿目，目不暇接。在一片學習英語的浪潮中，許多人把學好英語當成成才的唯一途徑，甚至有的人開始持“英語重，漢語輕”的思想。這不能不引發我們的思考。

　　英語作為一門在世界上廣泛使用的語言，在各個領域發揮了重要作用。但是，我們也應看到，漢語和英語同樣作為語言，并無孰優孰劣之分。《辭海》中對漢語是這樣解釋的：“漢語，漢族的語言。我國的通用語言。國際通用語言之一，屬漢藏語系。”而它對英語的'定義是：“英語，英美等民族的語言。國際通用語言之一。屬印歐語系日耳曼語族西日耳曼語支。”解釋雖有些專業，但也足可見漢語和英語同樣作為人類表情達意的工具，是沒有高下，優劣之分的。
