　　The joyous Mid-Autumn Festival was celebrated on the fifteenth day of the eighth moon around the time of the autumn equinox. Many referred to it simply as the "Fifteenth of the Eighth Moon".

　　This day was also considered as a harvest festival since fruits vegetables and grain had been harvested by this time and food was abundant. Food offerings were placed on an altar set up in the courtyard. Apples pears peaches grapes pomegranates melons oranges and pomelos might be seen. Special foods for the festival included moon cakes cooked taro and water caltrope a type of water chestnut resembling black buffalo horns. Some people insisted that cooked taro be included because at the time of creation taro was the first food discovered at night in the moonlight. Of all these foods it could not be omitted from the Mid-Autumn Festival.

　　The round moon cakes measuring about three inches in diameter and one and a half inches in thickness resembled Western fruitcakes in taste and consistency. These cakes were made with melon seeds lotus seeds almonds minced meats.

　　每天清晨，我都會被爺爺那嘰哩呱啦的英語聲給吵醒。你肯定會疑惑不解，告訴你吧，我爺爺隨著奧運會的一天天臨近，竟然每天早上五點多鐘就開始學英語了。

　　爺爺常說："奧運會是我們中國人的驕傲。"到時肯定會有許多外國人來我們張家港觀光旅游。如果走在大街上老外問咱們問題，咱們聽不懂，也不知道怎么說，肯定會讓他們笑話的。于是，爺爺就去"歐亞"報了個老年英語培訓班。由于爺爺的英語基礎很差，學起來就特別的困難，再加上爺爺的一個門牙也掉了，發起音來更是費勁，而且還要鬧笑話。雖然有這么多困難，但是爺爺很堅持，天天抱著復讀機聽個不停，還樂此不疲。

　　為了把英語學好，爺爺要求我和他用英語互相問候和對話。比如：每天早上他看到我起床就說一聲："Goodmorning（早上好）！"下午放學回家就說："Goodafternoon（下午好）！"等簡單的句子。有一次，我給爺爺倒了杯茶，他連忙說："Thankyou（謝謝）！"結果說成了"坦克油"，把我逗的捧腹大笑，差點把剛喝的水給噴了出來。在一旁吃飯的老爸更是笑得前俯后仰。奶奶也一邊笑一邊拍打著爺爺說："老頭子，你都這么大年紀了，普通話都說不標準，還學英語呢，哈哈哈——"。爺爺故作鎮定的說："這有什么好笑的，不就是把音讀的重了一點嘛！"我連忙告訴爺爺說："爺爺，如果你把音讀重了，就有可能變成另外一個意思，那樣的話，外國人就有可能理解錯誤的。"爺爺聽了迫不及待的讓我教他，我耐心的一遍又一遍教他發音。雖然他的發音還是不怎么標準，可他堅持不懈的精神值得我們全家人贊嘆。

　　爺爺身體不太好，還有糖尿病，醫生叮囑過爺爺要保證睡眠的充足，可爺爺為了學好英語，晚上仍然堅持去上老年英語培訓班。爸爸也曾勸他多休息，擔心過分的勞累會影響他的身體。但他堅定的對我們全家人說："為了北京的`奧運，再大的困難也要堅持！"

　　在爺爺的不懈努力下，他的英語水平已有了一定的進步，基本的一些口語他都能比較流利的說出來。值得驕傲的是，在爺爺的帶動下，我們小區里的一些老年人都開始學起了英語，報上了老年英語培訓班。

　　爺爺不僅有中國人的骨氣，還具有堅持不懈的精神。爺爺這種活到老學到老的精神，真值得我佩服！

　　在剛剛進入啟蒙級的時候才7歲，我還很小，有時學著很吃力，還經常忘了聽錄音。隨著歲數漸漸的增長，我能聽懂了，每次上學都很開心。

　　在學劍橋二級的時候，我有一陣子就想打退堂鼓，不再上英語輔導班了。但是，我媽媽鼓勵我，說：“劭卿，這英語是必學不可的。”“加油，我相信，你一定能行的！”……聽到這些鼓勵的'話語，我又充滿了信心。

　　在報了新概念一級之后，知道了是張老師教我們，我們欣喜若狂。這個班是個實驗班，都是些“精英”，這都是老師說的。她還說我們這個班是聯盟劍橋英語學校中學新概念年齡最小的一個班，而且成績還很優秀。聽完這句話，我非常高興。

　　在學新概念時，在課間和同學們說說笑笑，討論討論一下玩兒的游戲，很高興。在上課時，老師笑容滿面，和同學們互動，不管是老師、同學還是家長，都是高高興興的上課或聽課。我再也沒有像劍橋二級那時的想法，每次都是高高興興的去上學，這使我更加喜歡英語了。當然，也讓我對淄博聯盟劍橋英語學校的感情也越來越深了。
